Cold Wax Painting Workshop!
In August I will have the pleasure of delivering my first cold wax painting workshop. It feels like a long time coming as I first intended this a year ago, so it is definitely overdue! I plan for it to be a fun and informative day full of exploration and experimentation, and a chance for like minded creatives to come together to discover the joys of Cold Wax and how it is used with oil paint to create richly textured, layered paintings.
Cold wax medium is a mixture of natural bees wax and solvent and is a semi-solid paste that requires no heat to apply or fuse layers, so it blurs the lines between oil painting and encaustic painting. As the solvent evaporates the wax hardens and dries to a matte finish adding body and texture to the paint.
I’ve been using cold wax [off and on] in paintings for a while and I love its diversity as a medium, offering so many possibilities that every time I paint with it I am discovering new possibilities and I am looking forward to sharing my experience of it!
