New painting in its Cornish home

I was so thrilled to receive photos of a painting that I completed and sold just before Christmas. A lovely couple from Cornwall [Mike and Sally] saw it when they visited my studio at Buckland Abbey on Dartmoor and bought it there and then fresh off the easel! It reminded me that paintings really do find their owners! We all experience those moments when we see a piece of art and something happens, it talks to us, emotes us and [if we can afford it] we just have to own it.

Mike is an artist himself, not a painter but makes the most exquisite models of trees out of wire, they are so intricate and compellingly beautiful, especially the Bonsai, which I love.

As an expressive landscape artist I achieve great satisfaction from seeing a favourite location on the canvas in front of me slowly emerging from the many layers and glazes of paint that go into its making. Some paintings have a knack of pulling at the heartstrings more than others and, very occasionally, I struggle to let one go - a bit like when our children go off to Uni, you know they need to leave but wish you could hang on to them for just a bit longer.

I sold another painting just before Christmas and its new owner has promised to send me some photos of it hanging in their home, so I will share that in my next blog.

Thanks as always for reading!
