New Year!

I am enthusiastically welcoming 2024 and can’t wait for it to get going! The start of a new year always brings thoughts of new projects, paintings to be created and ideas to be seen through to fruition. Last year was a bit of a mixed bag for me, I had to leave my previous studio in January 2023 and took refuge in a temporary space on the same site for what was meant to be a couple of months. They say all good things come to those who wait and in May a studio became available in the Ox Yard at Buckland Abbey near Yelverton. Unfortunately I couldn’t move in until September due to renovation work needed, but I am now happily settled in this lovely National Trust property.

That’s not to say it has all been plain sailing. It took me a while to adjust to managing the footfall [and interruptions] that come with a public site, but that has only challenged me to work in a more productive and commercial way in order to balance sales opportunities with the need for creative time. It has also nudged me into the arena of merchandising, something I would never have previously thought about and which has turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable and productive addition to my business. The artworks in miniature featured on homeware and gift items offers another price point for my customers, many of whom are now becoming more regular clients.

I guess the moral of this story is that, this time last year i could not envisage the way ahead but in trusting that something would turn up I feel very fortunate to be where I now am and relish the ltime i get to spend there - especially as it is all of 7 minutes from my home on Dartmoor!

If you would like to visit me I am usually open Thursday to Sunday 11-4 but please check before making a special trip.

Please also note that my studio is currently closed whilst I recharge my creative batteries and will be re-opening again mid February.

In the meantime it’s business as usual here on my website!

Thanks for reading.
