A creative and experimental workshop for anyone interested in learning how to use colour more intuitively to add focus, depth and energy to your paintings.
Designed to help artists develop confidence in colour mixing and application, the workshop will be a deep dive into colour and take a practical approach to helping you achieve perfect colour mixes and unity in your paintings with reliability and conviction. You will be guided and encouraged to explore new approaches, colour palettes and combinations to gain an understanding of colour relationships and tonal value [one of the most misunderstood characteristics of colour], learning how to manipulate the use of light and dark colours when mixing paint.
We will be working with acrylics [for their fast-drying properties] and incorporating some additional materials such as oil and soft pastels to add another colour dimension. During the day you will develop a collection of studies and colour mixes intended to encourage further inquiry and future work.
Experience:
Suitable for both beginners and intermediate artists who are looking to find ways of working more intuitively and confidently with colour.
